About fair wear and tear

The British Vehicle Rental and Leasing Association (BVRLA) publishes fair-wear-and-tear guidance, and finance providers publish or supply their own return requirements. The exact standard for your vehicle comes from your agreement and provider.

Normal wear and tear reflects the gradual deterioration of a vehicle through ordinary and reasonable use. Damage beyond this standard can result in end-of-lease charges.

Inspect the vehicle early enough to read the relevant guide, gather quotes and complete any repair you choose before the collection date.

Tip: Even if you're not sure whether damage will be charged, getting a quote costs nothing. If it is chargeable, you'll already have a repair price ready.

Check it before they do.

Upload photos of your damage and get quotes from local repairers — free, no obligation.
